Hello, I’m Serhat Tasdelen, a seasoned game developer with a diverse background that spans across mechanical engineering, global project management, and interactive game development. My journey has been one of exploration, innovation, and continuous learning, driven by a passion for creating immersive experiences that blend technical excellence with creative storytelling.
Educational Background and Early Career
I began my professional journey by earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering, which laid the foundation for my technical expertise and problem-solving skills. Armed with this education, I embarked on a career in engineering that saw me working on some of the world's most iconic and challenging projects. From constructing massive bridges to designing petroleum refineries, gold mines, and skyscrapers, I played a key role in building the infrastructure that shapes our world today.
Working for some of the world’s largest and most respected companies, I gained invaluable experience in project management, structural design, and systems engineering. This phase of my career not only honed my technical skills but also instilled in me a deep understanding of how to manage complex, large-scale projects and lead diverse teams to success.
Transition to Game Development
Motivated by a passion for technology and storytelling, I transitioned to game development. I pursued an Advanced Diploma in Game Programming at Centennial College, mastering languages like C#, C++, and Java, and gaining proficiency in Unity and Unreal Engine. A Diploma in Project Management from Durham College further sharpened my leadership skills.
As a Co-Founder and Game Developer/ Designer at Playburgh Game Studios, I led the development of "King of the Universe" and "Helixzone," merging my technical skills with creative vision to produce immersive gameplay experiences. While my core strengths are in Unity and C#, I've also gained valuable experience with Unreal Engine and 3D modeling using Blender, contributing to both the visual and functional elements of our games.
Global Experience and Personal Interests
My career has taken me across the globe, allowing me to live and work in over 20 different countries. These experiences have broadened my perspective, enriched my creativity, and deepened my understanding of different cultures and work environments. One of the most impactful experiences was my time in Berlin, Germany, where I participated in an Erasmus Intern. This opportunity allowed me to engage in collaborative projects, refine my cross-cultural communication skills, and gain valuable insights into European technology and business practices.
When I’m not immersed in game development, I enjoy a variety of personal interests that keep me inspired and energized. I am an avid reader and music enthusiast, with a particular love for playing the ukulele. I also maintain an active lifestyle through gym workouts, trekking, and swimming, all of which help me stay focused and creative. These hobbies, combined with my professional experience, contribute to a well-rounded life that fuels my passion for innovation.
Language Proficiency
I am fluent in English and Turkish, with proficient knowledge of German. Additionally, I have some knowledge of French, Spanish, Russian, and Arabic. Nowadays, I am eager to further improve my German and have taken an interest in learning Korean.
Future Aspirations
Looking ahead, I am excited to bring my diverse background and technical expertise to new challenges in game development. I have a wealth of innovative game ideas that I am eager to bring to life in my next company, where I can continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in the gaming industry. My goal is to create games that not only entertain but also inspire and challenge players, leveraging the latest technologies and my unique blend of skills.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my journey. I look forward to connecting with like-minded professionals and exploring opportunities to collaborate on groundbreaking projects.
